SPRINGFIELD -- More than 25 Illinois authors will converge at the Old State Capitol in Springfield tonight to sign books and promote their works in connection with the Illinois Reads Project (http://illinoisreads.org).

Illinois Reads highlights books for Illinois citizens by authors with Illinois connections in an annual reading list. Books are chosen for multiple age groups: Birth-4; K-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12; Adult. This is the second year that the sponsor of the project, the Illinois Reading Council (www.illinoisreadingcouncil.org) has issued the list.

The event previews the Building Bridges to Literacy conference at which librarians, literacy experts, authors, and teachers gather to brainstorm new opportunities to promote reading at all levels.
