The superintendent for the St. Joseph-Ogden school district confirms Jon Jamison resigned from his teaching position. A letter, dated Thursday, February 9, stated "personal reasons" for his departure. District leaders say all of Jamison's responsibilities have been filled including his bus driving, special education teaching and coaching positions throughout the end of the year.
The 33-year old from Fairmount is in the spotlight after accusations were made public that he may have sexual relationships with female students more than 5 years ago. One victim says she was just 14-years old at the time.
School officials say they consider his resignation a chance for closure and thank the community for its support. Jamison was arrested and faces charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault and abuse. A 19-year old woman is still considering filing a lawsuit against Jamison, the district, the superintendent and the principal.
