Jewish community raises money for Mikvah

CHAMPAIGN -- An important ritual in the Jewish community has made its way to Central Illinois.
CHAMPAIGN -- An important ritual in the Jewish community has made its way to Central Illinois. For three years, a number of congregations have worked to bring a Mikvah to the area. It's a bathing process for a spiritual purification.

There has never been a Mikveh in Champaign. People practicing the Jewish faith would have to drive to another city every month to participate in the tradition. The total cost to build the Mikvah was $250,000.

"Mikveh's are used for many things, when a man marries a wife," says Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel.

Donations came all the way from Israel. For more information, click here or here.
