Kids learn how to rodeo

CHAMPAIGN -- Kids at the Indian Acres Swim Club spent the morning rounding up fun. The University of Illinois Rodeo Club showed them the ropes.

More than 200 campers got to try line dancing, roping lessons and riding a mechanical bull. The club says they do it to see the kids enjoy the ride.

Emily Matlak is the club's Special Events Coordinator.

"We're able to come out here and work with these kids and show them what we love so much about rodeo and what we find entertaining," she said. "And to see them get that excitement and value out of it like we do, it's so fulfilling."

The club is always looking for ways to get the community excited about rodeo. They'll be riding on September 21st at the Piatt County Trail Blazers Arena in Monticello.
