IROQUOIS COUNTY -- A late night car accident in Iroquois County leaves two people dead. The coroner says it happened just before 1:00 am Sunday. The car was eastbound on County Road 2000 North, just passed Flesher Cemetery. The coroner says that's when the car went off the roadway, hit several trees, and landed in a creek bed. Some people following behind the car called 911.
The driver, 23-year-old Curtis Riston, of Watseka, was ejected from the car. The coroner says he died at the scene. Another
passenger, 23-year-old Patrick Bechely, was ejected as well. The coroner says he
died later at a hospital. Investigators say neither of them had on seat belts. A second passenger was wearing a seat
belt and survived.
Autopsies are scheduled Monday afternoon.
