SIDNEY -- People in town are in disbelief after a man falls to his death while working. The man was working in a grain bin about 11 am. That's when police say he fell. It happened off David Street.

Family and friends gathered at the scene standing next to the grain bin where crews pulled out his body. Officials say it took about two hours to get to the victim. Firefighters say the grain tightened around his body, making it very hard to find.

Neighbors say they applaud the man for risking his life by doing the important work he did. Police say there was one other man inside when the victim fell, but no one else was hurt.

Sidney Fire was first on scene, and they were joined by several other agencies. Authorities say when a person is trapped in grain for more than 30-minutes, it's unlikely they'll make it out alive. Crews are devastated they couldn't get to him in time.
