Illinois lawmakers are taking action after the sex abuse scandal at Penn State. A new bill is on its way to the Senate floor.
It would require sports coaches and staff to report sex abuse allegations. If they don't, they could be charged with a misdemeanor or felony.
Springfield Athletic Director Rick Sanders supports the move. Right now, coaches and staff are not specifically required to report child abuse.
The bill made it out of the House yesterday, and now heads to the Senate floor.
