New waiver puts families' minds at ease

ILLINOIS -- Parents of children with disabilities are finally winning a battle with the state.
ILLINOIS -- Parents of children with disabilities are finally winning a battle with the state. The children need serious medical attention at home, but the cost is too much for many families.

They get a special waiver through Medicaid, but that waiver expired. For months, the state had been extending it instead of negotiating a new one.

But now, they just got a brand, new waiver, set to last through 2017. Wednesday, Governor Quinn announced an all-new waiver program expected to bring in more money from the federal government. The families aren't sure how the new program will affect them.
