Officer cleared of wrongdoing in shooting

VERMILION COUNTY -- A Vermilion County Sheriff's Deputy who shot a man has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in November.

During the situation, a deputy shot 20-year old Caleb Emory. He survived the shooting and recovered. The Vermilion County State's Attorney decided not to file charges against the officer saying he acted within reason.

VERMILION COUNTY -- Illinois State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting. It happened about 4:15 am, Thursday, in the 2500-block of Georgetown Road, in Danville.

Deputies from the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene for a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, 20-year old Caleb Emory was at the residence.

At some point, Emory was shot by a deputy. Details of the encounter have not been released. Emory was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
