SPRINGFIELD -- For the first time, Governor Quinn's running mate is speaking publicly. The governor officially introduced Paul Vallas as his candidate for lieutenant governor.

Vallas has a background in education administration. He's never held an elected position before, but says that's what makes him perfect for the job.

Critics worry Vallas doesn't qualify to be on the ticket. Until now, he's been running a school district in Connecticut, but Vallas says he never gave up his Illinois residency.

SPRINGFIELD -- Governor Quinn has picked his running mate for next year's election. Paul Vallas used to be in charge of Chicago's public schools.

He ran for governor in 2002, but lost the Democratic nomination to Rod Blagojevich. Quinn says Vallas is committed to reform. All the candidates for governor have now chosen their running mates.
