PAXTON -- Some students at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School are getting ready to make history. Ten of them will get the title valedictorian at graduation. WCIA-3's Erica Quednau has more on the unusual achievement.

It's the most PBL has ever had. The record of seven was set with the Class of 2001. This year, the class of 2014, plans on breaking it through a mixture of hard work and teamwork.

"Maybe if one of us doesn't understand something, the rest of us can jump in and help us understand what they didn't get."

"This year especially, we've all kind of stepped together, especially with calculus."

"We've got ten awesome students who, through four years, have maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA."

Ten students who you'd think had nothing in common, but between the cheerleaders, cross country stars and musicians, they found a bond.

"A lot of us took some of the same classes throughout high school, like the honors English or higher math grades, so we've always been able to help each other out."

"They've not only made it a priority, they've also made it a priority to challenge themselves."

"Most of us take a lot of classes together and it's really helped."

Helped them climb to the top of the class together.

"At least, personally, for me, yeah, that was always the goal. I wanted to be at least somewhere top of my class."

"I've always wanted to excel in school, so I try to push myself to keep it up."

"It definitely would've been a lot harder if I didn't have everyone else there helping me."

It's the perfect support system now that these kids are in the final stretch.

"I guess there's still a chance here, with a few weeks go to, that somebody could slip, but at this point, we're not anticipating it."

"Normally, when I hear valedictorian, it's only one person, maybe two. But, like ten of us? I just think that's awesome."

"It feels great. Yeah, it's amazing. It's wonderful."

The students do have to keep up their perfect grades until graduation day to get the title, but the best part is, they're all pushing each other to make sure they can all win and celebrate that title together.
