DECATUR -- Police aren't messing around when it comes to the city's water restrictions. The department has already issued 19 tickets.

It's all in an effort to help conserve water. The lake is 22" below the normal level for the year.

A deputy says they're not going around looking for violators, they usually just respond to complaints.

DECATUR -- Police have issued 19 tickets for violations of the city's water restrictions. Restrictions took effect Thursday.

Anyone ticketed can plead guilty and just pay the fine, or they can contest the charges in administrative court. Money collected goes back into the city's main budget.
