School board and teachers agree on contract

CHAMPAIGN -- After months of negotiations, the Champaign School Board has approved a contract with the Champaign Federation of Teachers.
CHAMPAIGN -- After months of negotiating, the Champaign Unit #4 School District and the Champaign Federation of Teachers have agreed on a new contract.

The salary schedule for teachers will change. This year, teachers get a 3% salary increase. Next school year, it will be a 2.25% salary increase, with a 2% increase the following year. Veteran teachers will get 3% more every year. The deal is retroactive to July.

There are also two new health insurance plans for teachers. The board will pay $537 per member each month towards the cost of health insurance.

All of the details in the new contract will be available on the Champaign Schools website as soon as it's printed and signed.
