CHAMPAIGN -- One wall separated a room full of kids and several bullets. This, after a car drove by and shot at a home. It happened at midnight in the 1500-block of Queens Way. WCIA-3's Megan Brilley has the story.

"I've been in this neighborhood for 28-years."

And, for more than two decades, Robert Sallee had never experienced anything like he did this morning.

"I was about to doze off to sleep."

Minutes later, he was awakened by loud popping noises just a few feet away from his bed. He grabbed his wife and they took cover on the floor.

"She asked me, 'is that gunshots?'"

Officers says someone drove by and shot several times at a house next door to Sallee. Neighbors then heard the car speed off.

"We looked out the window to see if anybody was laying in the streets."

No one was there, but little did Sallee know there were several people within range.

"Investigators say there were four kids playing video games in the house when the shots were fired."

The bullets hit the home and went through the wall; all while the kids were at home alone. Luckily, no one was hurt.

"In this neighborhood, there needs to be some grownups supervising kids because you never know what could happen."

Sources say it wasn't a random act and the home was targeted. All Sallee can do now is hope the person behind the trigger won't come back.

"I don't like it, but the fact is, what can you do?"

Even though the kids were home alone, investigators don't believe the guardian will be charged. There are no suspects for the shooting at this time.
