Shredding the chance of fraud

CHAMPAIGN -- Spring cleaning can sometimes be dangerous if you aren't careful, but an event is helping people get rid of things safely.
CHAMPAIGN -- Spring cleaning can sometimes be dangerous if you aren't careful, but an event is helping people get rid of things safely. People lined up to get rid of their old documents.

They were allowed to bring two boxes which will be checked for trash or fire hazardous materials. Then the items go into a can to be recycled and shredded. The method is better than throwing important papers into the regular garbage.

Generally, Crimestoppers raises around $3,000 with the event. It's its biggest fundraiser of the year. The money goes to pay people who call in tips about crimes.
