CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois baseball coach Dan Hartleb has a valuable position to fill on his staff with the news that associate head coach Eric Snider has taken a job at Louisville.  The Cardinals announced Tuesday that Snider will become their new hitting coach and recruiting coordinator.

Snider spent the last 16 seasons coaching at Illinois, including the last six as associate head coach.  He's been very close with Hartleb over the last decade-and-a-half, and Hartleb says it was tough to see Snider go.

"As good of a coach as he is, you know at some point he's going to get an opportunity to improve his situation," Hartleb sad.  "So I'm not blindsided from that standpoint.  Eric has never been a person who has gone out and pursued jobs because he's been very happy here.  This was a job that pursued him and it's a great opportunity for him."

Hartleb says he has already begun a national search for Snider's replacement.  They hope to have it filled within the next few weeks.
