Speeding Bill Calls for Tougher Punishments

SPRINGFIELD- A bill that would toughen punishments for drivers caught speeding is picking up support at the Capitol.
People caught speeding might have to face tougher punishments.

A proposed bill would deny drivers the option of court supervision. Anyone caught going 25 mph over on city streets or 30 mph over on highways are at risk. If caught, they may not be able to clear the ticket from their record.

The bill passed out of the Senate and will now go to the House floor.
