ILLINOIS -- A new report suggests Illinois residents are making strides towards better health.
ILLINOIS -- A new report suggests Illinois residents are making strides towards better health. We're doing really well compared to our neighboring states.

When it comes to overall health, Illinois ranks 22nd in the nation. The latest Gallup-Healthways Poll measured healthy behaviors, physical and emotional health, plus how much we like our jobs and more.

A more-detailed look shows the report found Illinois scored lowest when it comes to physical behaviors. Just 51% of respondents said they exercise for 30 minutes or more at least three times per week. Health enthusiasts say that's better than last year, when Illinois was at 28.

States noted as worse off than Illinois include a few neighbors; Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky. Wisconsin and Iowa had better rankings. States ranked highest overall include North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Montana.
