CHAMPAIGN -- Two men accused of robbing a home store twice last summer have been arrested. Police say one man admitted his involvement. The arrests are in connection to 25 guns stolen from Rural King.

The suspects are Jailyne Roberts, 18, and Joseph Tate, 19, both of Champaign. Each is being held on $500,000 bond. Charges have not yet been filed.

An arrest involving one of the stolen weapons put police on the track of Roberts and Tate. Sergeant David Griffet says investigators were able to piece everything together with each gun they recovered.

The burglaries happened August 25 and September 3, 2013. Two men broke into Rural King and stole 24 handguns and a CMMG .22 caliber rifle.

Now police are asking the man who purchased the rifle from the suspects to come forward. They believe he did not know the gun was stolen. He's a white man with a valid FOID card. Griffet says even if the man doesn't have any useful information, it's good to know one more illegal gun is off the street.

So far, seven of the 24 handguns have been recovered. Anyone with information related to this crime or these weapons is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.

CHAMPAIGN -- Two teens have been arrested in connection with the theft of 24 handguns and a rifle from Rural King last year. 18-year old Jailyne Roberts and 19-year old Joseph Tate are being held on $500,000 bond and face charges of burglary.

Police say the pair is suspected of forcing entry into the business and taking the weapons during the early morning hours of August 25, and September 3, 2013. Investigators say seven of the handguns have been recovered so far.

They believe the stolen CMMB .22 caliber rifle may have been sold to an unwitting FOID card owner. He's described as a white male.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Guns stolen from a Rural King have turned up at several crime scenes. Police say they've found seven weapons since the store was robbed last year.

Authorities have been keeping a close eye out for these guns. That's helped them find a few needles in a haystack. Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten them any closer to solving the original crime.

In September, two suspects broke into the Rural King on Marketplace and stole 23-firearms. In the same week, a rifle was stolen from the store.

Since then, seven of those weapons have been found. Police recovered them at traffic stops, a shots fired call in Urbana and a robbery. The most recent find was Tuesday when a teenager was allegedly threatened with a gun at Popeye's.

Sergeant David Griffet says they believe most of the guns have been sold on the street, but the suspects in these cases aren't giving up any information. Griffet says the Rural King has tightened security. Previously, the guns were stored in a glass case. Now, they are tied down with special equipment.

Officials say none of the incidents where guns were found are related. Investigators say they believe more guns will turn up and eventually lead them to solve the Rural King robbery, but they need the public's help.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
