ILLINOIS -- Sixteen former boy scouts from the Chicago-area are suing the Boy Scouts of America.
ILLINOIS -- Sixteen former boy scouts from the Chicago-area are suing the Boy Scouts of America. They say they were molested by their scout leader.

76-year old Thomas Hacker was named in a civil suit by the scouts who claim Hacker repeatedly abused them. Their attorney says Hacker was a three-time convicted child molester before being allowed to volunteer as a scout leader. He says his clients want the abuse made public.

The Boy Scouts of America released a statement: "In the 30-years since these events took place, (the Boy Scouts) has continuously enhanced its multi-tiered policies and procedures."

The victims are asking for damages of more than $50,000 each.
