Summer Concert Season with Visit Champaign County

Headlining musicians and local artists are taking to the stage as Champaign gears up for summer concert season.
Hessel Park Concerts

Begin the outdoor concert season this Saturday with the Edison Middle School Jazz Band at Hessel Park. Bring a lawn chair and a snack and be ready to enjoy these up and coming musicians. On May 25, the second park concert of the season will feature the 2nd& 3rd place winners of the annual Battle of the Bands!

Amasong: Seeds of Hope

Amasong, which is a feminist choir in Champaign-Urbana, is presenting their spring concert this weekend, Seeds of Hope. They’ll have music from six countries in seven languages celebrating the joys and promise of life. They’re an incredible group to listen to and later this summer will be hosting the Sister Singers Network Conference at Krannert which will have performances from choirs all over the country.

Great concert for the kids, Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players will be performing at the Allerton Barn on Sunday with two performances. Justin has been featured on Nick Jr. and The Today Show and the concert promises to offer the kids jumping, dancing and bouncing to the rhythm of the music. Tickets are limited!


Krannert Center Debut Artists

Every year, Krannert Center awards a student in the School of Music with a full professional contract during an intimate recital with audience members. This year’s event is on May 4 and for the third time since 1984, two students will receive the award. The Debut Artists event is the best way to celebrate the Center’s reputation for excellence as you marvel at the award winners—Soprano Alexandra Nowakowski and Pianist Samuel Gingher.

For a more intimate concert, visit Indi Go Artist Co-op to hear up and coming artist ErisaRei Kopp, who’s originally from Illiopolis. In her Americana style, Erisa recently had her new album, Black Ball, hit #2 on the Root Music Report’s charts. The setting at Indi Go will be the perfect atmosphere for hearing her vibrant voice come to life.
