MECHANICSBURG -- A survey team from the National Weather Service (NWS) is busy looking at damage caused by Thursday's storm. One farm outside of town was hit by an EF-1 tornado.

The owner, David Mendenhall, was devastated by the damage, but says it could be worse. Right now, he's just thankful no one was hurt.

An NWS survey team took stock of the damage Friday morning. They say the tornado was on the ground for nine miles and was just under a quarter mile wide. It had wind speeds up to 110 miles per hour.

Mendenhall says eight outbuildings show damage. His home was not hit too hard. His family was home at the time. No one was hurt. They went to the basement.

NWS says it was just one of six twisters which went through our area Thursday. The storms lasted two hours.
