Tolono Business Helps Fire Victims

PESOTUM--Three roommates lost almost everything in a huge house fire Tuesday.  One local business is trying to help them get back on their feet.
It's a fire that's very fresh in the minds of Josh Woolard and Lucas Rund.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," Rund said.

High winds caused flames to spread quickly, destroying everything in the Pesotum home.  Rund and Woolard were not there when it happened.

"The house was just non-existent.  You couldn't even tell there was a house there, besides the foundation," Rund said.

Almost everything has been reduced to ashes.

"It's weird to see everything you've bought and own is at the pile of some foundation," Josh Woolard said.

Beth Swigart is hoping to change that.  She owns the Monical's in Tolono.  Woolard and Rund work there.

"They're just such great kids, great kids.  It's a sad loss for them," Swigart said.

A bucket sits near the register at the restaurant waiting for donations.  A portion of every sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will go toward Woolard and Rund.

"We're lucky to live in a really tight-knit community where everybody cares about each other," Rund said.

The roommates are staying with their parents since their home burned down.  Firefighters still don't know what caused the fire.
