UI not considering beer sales at stadium

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois is not considering selling alcohol to the general public at Memorial Stadium. This news comes a day after reports that athletic director Mike Thomas was considering allowing beer sales during Illinois football games. Thomas released a statement Wednesday refuting that report.

“Despite a report yesterday regarding alcohol service at Memorial Stadium, the University of Illinois is not considering the sale of alcohol in general seating areas at Illinois football games. I mentioned yesterday that this issue has been a part of discussions regarding attendance, but we discuss many things that are never considered for actual use.” — Mike Thomas, UI Athletics Director
