CHAMPAIGN -- News about the new location of Central High School is staring to settle in and parents have a lot to say about it. Some wonder which school their kids will go to once it's built.

Both schools are currently over-capacity. Redistricting and the new, bigger Central should help even things out. New boundary lines are drawn every ten years and will be done again in 2017, just in time for Central to open.

Another issue which concerns parents is safety in such a high-traffic area. The district says most kids will not be walking to school. They'll be dropped off or take buses. Transportation costs will increase for the district, but not students or families.

CHAMPAIGN -- Unit 4 school district leaders announced the future site of the new Central High School. They said Interstate Drive and Neil Street will be the new location.

It's further north than some parents want, but the board feels it's the best spot after looking at six different options. The 80 acres of land will cost just over $3 million.

The district already has most of that on hand thanks to the 1% sales tax. Other property may be sold to make up the difference. The next step is to interview architects.
