CHAMPAIGN -- A man who helped bring life back to an historic spot is being honored. Leonard Doyle was given the 2013 "40 North 88 West Volunteer Ace Award."

He got it because of his devotion to the Virginia Theatre. Doyle started working there as an usher in the 1940's.

He says he's spent thousands of hours volunteering over the years. He even helped architects design the interior for renovations earlier this year.

"It’s impossible to express it, but it's a great feeling to know that you have helped someone or some project within your community," he said.

Doyle also used to work as a night manager and projectionist. Even at 85 years old, he still comes back to volunteer as an usher.
