1938 - A 3 to 5 tornadoes moved from Quincy to just south of Peoria. The worst damage was in south Pekin where 9 people were killed. 3 city blocks were leveled and 250 homes were damaged or destroyed in Pekin. Two peopler were killed in Mortan, another in Timewell and one in Astoria. Eight other tornadoes were reported in Illinois that day. A home near Edwardsville was destroyed. The same home had been destroyed by a tornado in 1883.
