This Day In Weather History1995 - $2 million in damage was done in and around Lincoln by flooding. The flash flooding was widespread around central Illinois on this date as 3 to 4 inches of rain fell in a few hours.
2002 - Most rivers in central and southeastern Illinois were in flood stage due to runoff from heavier rain several days earlier. On this date, the Embarras River crested at a record level at Lawrenceville. The Sangamon River crested at many points from the 14th through the 16th, setting 2nd and 3rd highest levels on record. The Illinois River would crest later in the month around the third highest level on record.
