Heavy Morning Snowfall - Dealing with heavy snow/slush this morning. Snow should really wind down between 9 AM and Noon. Expect a slick commute with 2 to 4 inches of snow for most of the area by the time the heavy snow ends.
Winds - Winds will also be picking up form the north-northwest during the morning hours. Wind speeds during the morning commute will be around 25 mph with gusts at 30 mph or even more. This will cause blowing snow, drifting snow, and possibly near white-out conditions. While the winds will calm down in the afternoon to around 20 mph, that will still be high enough to cause blowing and drifting snow as well as near white-out conditions, especially in rural areas.
Temperatures - That whistling sound you hear is likely the temperatures falling. By 7 AM we expect temperatures to be around 30 and a wind chill around 17. The afternoon doesn't look better with temperatures in the lower to middle 20s and wind chills in the lower teens. The coldest temperatures will be Thursday Morning with middle teens for actual temperatures and wind chills in the single digits. We will start recovering from there as the afternoon highs on Thursday should be in the lower to middle 40s.
