Summary of the May 15th, 1968 Tornadoes

The Image above is from the National Weather Service showing the various tracks of the Dewitt county tornadoes. 

Legend

On May 15th, 1968, six tornadoes moved through central Illinois. The primary damage zone occurred in the northern part of DeWitt County from Waynesville to Farmer City with Wapella being hit the hardest. Once the event ended, four were left dead and 56 injured. This tornado outbreak was one of 3 that moved across central Illinois that year, and the tornadoes weren't the only weather headline. The storms also caused a large area of 7-10 inches of rain falling in parts of DeWitt, Macon, Piatt, and Champaign counties.
