PEORIA -- A Central Illinois man is now in the national spotlight with an opportunity most only dream about.
PEORIA -- A Central Illinois man is now in the national spotlight with an opportunity most only dream about. He's performing on the hit TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance?" Andrew Barra learned more about the Bust-a-Move contestant.

To America, he is Fik-shin, but to his mom, he's "Little Du. He's Du-Shant."

According to mother, Sabrina Brooks, Du-Shant Stegall, also known as Fik-shin, has been a dancing machine since he was a toddler.

"Du-Shant has always been a mover and a shaker, since he was about 3-years old. But, I would say, around 6- or 7-, he was always trying to create new moves."

"Dancing downtown when they would have festivals and the concerts, that was probably my most concrete memory of being there in Peoria, dancing and not really knowing what I'm doing."

Now, he's in the national spotlight as one of the final ten dancers on the hit TV show. A show crew stopped by Brooks' house Saturday, capturing friends and family cheering him on like they have been doing all season.

"Every time I see him on TV, I still get teary-eyed. I know that I've seen him 10 - 15 times on TV now. Just to know he's on national TV and trying to make a name for himself, I'm just super proud."

While she gets to see him on television each week, she has words she hopes he can see.

"I love you. I'm very proud of you. You got my support. I would say Peoria is rallying behind you."

Fik-shun and the rest of the finalists appear Tuesday.
