Families enjoy "Cub Scout Fun Day"

CHAMPAIGN -- Families enjoyed an afternoon in the life of the Cub Scouts.
CHAMPAIGN -- Families enjoyed an afternoon in the life of the Cub Scouts. Prairielands Council hosted "Cub Scout Fun Day" at the Illinois Fire Institute. More than 300 people showed up for several hands-on activities.

Kids tried out BB guns, archery, sling shots, and enjoyed live fire demonstrations. Organizers say it’s a fun way to end their most important month for recruiting.

"This has been with Prairieland Council for a little over 20 plus years and so we know it works and we know that it gets the kids. We pump them up about what they can do in cub scouting which is learning while having fun," said Lovetta Ash-Simpson, Prairielands Council.

Prairielands Council serves more than 3,000 youth in Central Illinois and East-Central Indiana. The Cub Scouts are still registering new members. Boys must be between 6 - 10 years old.
