Finding kindness with Ben's Bells project

CHAMPAIGN -- If you thought you heard the tinkling of bells mixed with raindrops, you may be right.
CHAMPAIGN -- If you thought you heard the tinkling of bells mixed with raindrops, you may be right. Students put out a fresh set of Ben's Bells around the city. The windchimes are handmade by volunteers in the community.

During the past six weeks, they've shaped and painted dozens of sets. Tuesday, in the pouring rain, high school students hung them around city parks for people to take. This is part of a service learning project with the University of Illinois Special Education Department.

Ben's Bells are named in memory of a 2-year old boy in Arizona who died. His family thought doing random acts of kindness would help them ease pain while also reminding people to be kind to others.
