Firefighter falls through floor as fire damages home

DANVILLE -- A two-alarm fire damaged a home Sunday afternoon.
DANVILLE -- A two-alarm fire damaged a home Sunday afternoon. It happened in the 900-block of Sherman Street about 4:45 pm.

Owner, Aaron Bott, says he smelled smoke and noticed a plug was on fire. It only took first responders about four minutes to get there, but the fire had already spread across the back of the home.

"We're sorry to lose it," said Bott. "I'd actually just finished painting the house over the summer. it was yellow and now it's black."

The home has been in their family for generations. Everyone was able to make it out safely. One firefighter got hurt when he fell through the floor into the basement, but he's expected to be OK. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
