FOID card delays frustrate hunter

CHARLESTON -- It's been six months since a Charleston man applied to renew his FOID card and he's still waiting. Charles Faw is an avid hunter, and with the season just months away, he hopes to see his card come in the mail.

Faw says he applied for a renewal in January and has called Illinois State Police many times since. Each time they tell him "it's processing." This week he wrote a complaint to Lisa Madigan's office hoping that will make a difference.

"Why can't they get caught up? It shouldn't take 5-1/2 months. There's something else there. It's not that they're back-logged. There's something else going on," says Faw.

A state police representative couldn't speak specifically to Faw's case, but did say they're experiencing a higher number of calls and Faw isn't the only one who's had to wait this long.
