Gill & the 13th District race

CHAMPAIGN -- When it comes to local races, none has been talked about as much as the 13th Congressional District.
CHAMPAIGN -- When it comes to local races, none has been talked about as much as the 13th Congressional District. The candidates include democrat David Gill, republican Rodney Davis and independent John Hartman.

Speaking with Gill by phone, he says Tuesday's been all about shaking hands with voters and encouraging people to get to the polls. That's been his theme the past few days in a trip around the district.

Gill stopped in Decatur, Monticello and Champaign Monday. Tuesday, he woke up bright and early in his hometown of Bloomington, then headed back to Decatur to meet with volunteers.

He estimates he's logged up to 2,000 miles on the road since Friday. All that campaigning has left little time for rest.

Gill plans to work his way east along I-72 visiting polling places in DeWitt and Piatt counties. His trip ends at the I-Hotel in Champaign, where he and his supporters will spend the evening watching the numbers.
