Go Pink for breast cancer awareness

CHAMPAIGN -- Presence Covenant Medical Center invited women to go pink Wednesday. The center celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Go Pink! event at the iHotel and Conference Center.

Go Pink! highlights ladies learning about the illness while having fun. Speakers gave presentations and participated in a Q&A discussion.

One speaker, UI physiology professor Janice Bahr, says prevention is key in the conversation about cancer.

"If you don't take care of your body, where will you live? You know, we can always go buy a new house or a new car, but we only have one body. So it's very important that we do everything possible to take care of it."

Organizers did not send the ladies home empty-handed. They enjoyed a spa, including mini-manicures and left with goodie bags.
