Groce: "We're not going to panic"

The Illinois basketball team is moving forward after their first loss of the season Tuesday night, and head coach John Groce says there is no panic within the locker room. It might be easy to overreact after Illinois blew a 12-point lead in the final nine minutes of a 67-64 loss to Georgia Tech, but Groce says it all came down to a lack of execution. That is something he is hammering home in practice this week in hopes that they don't make the same mistakes again.
ATLANTA, Ga -- The Illinois basketball team is moving forward after their first loss of the season Tuesday night, and head coach John Groce says there is no panic within the locker room.  It might be easy to overreact after Illinois blew a 12-point lead in the final nine minutes of a 67-64 loss to Georgia Tech, but Groce says it all came down to a lack of execution.  That is something he is hammering home in practice this week in hopes that they don't make the same mistakes again.

"We're not going to panic.  We're going to stay poised.  We have to learn from this one though," Groce said after Tuesday's loss.  "Our execution has got to be better, especially in games like this or we're going to have a lot of disappointment like this."

Illinois is back in action Sunday afternoon when they face Auburn at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga. (2:00 pm, FSN).
