Group's Positive "Muzic with a Message"

All it takes is one second; one click of the mouse; one word to start a deadly pattern.
All it takes is one second; one click of the mouse; one word to start a deadly patter. Dozens in the Capital City are fed up, and they're starting a group to stop teen violence. WCIA-3's Megan Brilley finds out how the group is taking aim at music.
We all listen to the radio and hear what Jay-Z, Eminem and Snoop Dogg rap about in their songs. But, Muzic with a Message is trying to show teens that those words aren't what they have to live by.
"It breaks my heart, that's another soul that's taken away early. He could be the next President. He could be the next person to cure AIDS, you never know. So when a life is taken so quickly-it leaves a gap."
All it took was one second for Mack Holman's life to come to an abrupt end a this Springfield nightclub. He was stabbed to death Christmas morning.
"I have been to a number of vigils here. We stand around with candles. We pray and we try to console families who have lost loved ones. It's too late then.''
These five people got tired of seeing teens in obituaries. So they asked themselves what starts the violence.
"They're glorifying money, they're glorifying pride, they're glorifying sex those things are destructive they lead kids down the wrong path.''
So they play this, music with the same beat as hip-hop, but with a positive message.
"No matter how painful something may be, you can't use that as your power to take it out on someone else.''
Something that's working. Hundreds of teens showed up to the group's last event. Organizer's hope? To save teens like Mack, from one second that leads to a dead end.
"We need to do something now before the violence happens to get youth to look at violence and understand you when somebody's killed. That's final, that's the end.''
Muzic with a Message meets on the last Monday of the month at the Boys & Girls Club.
