Henson still raising money for hoops

Former Illinois coach Lou Henson was one of the guests of honor at Stone Creek in Urbana Wednesday for the Illini Rebounders Golf Outing. Henson was there along with current Illini coach John Groce and women's coach Matt Bollant. All the proceeds go to support the basketball program. Even though it has been a couple decades since Henson coached at Illinois, he still calls Champaign home, and he says he is glad to help out however he can. "38 years ago at the University of Illinois we had no booster club, so we organized that and got it going with just a few members," Henson said. "Now look where we are. The golf outing is really something special. Everybody enjoys it, and they've raised a lot of money for the U of I basketball team, so we are ready to help out any way we can." This was the 12th year for the event.
