UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- A 117-year old teaching tool is returning to campus.
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- A 117-year old teaching tool is returning to campus. Piece-by-piece, a crane is putting parts of the telescope back through the dome of the Observatory.

It's been used there since 1896 and needed to be restored. A group of alumni teamed up with Chancellor Phyllis Wise to make it possible.

Work was done at a museum in Pennsylvania. Now, UI students will be able to look through the historic telescope once again. It will be reassembled on its mount later this week.
