CHAMPAIGN -- The Illinois basketball team will play two exhibition games to tune up for the regular season.  The first of those is Thursday night at home against McKendree.

It will be a chance for John Groce's team to play against another team for the first time.  They have only had practice and the Orange and Blue scrimmage so far, so they are looking forward to the opportunity to show what they've got in their preseason opener.

"We've practiced fairly well, knock on wood," Groce said.  "In fact I think we've practiced better than we played last Thursday.  We'll see if that has some carryover.  The biggest thing for us tomorrow is we want to be better running.  I don't think we ran nearly as well or as hard as we should in Thursday's game, and I thought our positioning defensively was suspect at best, so I want our positioning off the ball to be better."

Illinois and McKendree tip off at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at State Farm Center.
