CHAMPAIGN -- We will get our first chance to see this year's Illinois basketball team on the court Thursday night in the Orange and Blue scrimmage.  It will be their only public scrimmage before their exhibition opener next Thursday night.

Fans might want to bring their programs because there will be a lot of new faces you have never seen before - all of them competing for playing time.  Head coach John Groce says the players who play the best defense and take care of the ball will earn his trust the quickest.  That is just one of the many things they will be watching Thursday night.  Groce is also looking to find out who is in the best shape after the first three weeks of practice.

"We're healthy right now.  The Lord's blessed us with that," Groce said.  "We'll do two teams of seven and see if guys can hold up for the duration of the scrimmage.  I'll be anxious to see that for sure."

The Orange and Blue scrimmage tips off at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night at the State Farm Center.
