URBANA -- Some fans put in a lot of work to be in the Illini's homecoming parade. Plus, they have a lot of expectations for the big game as well.

The float from Clark-Lindsey Retirement Village was built by the seniors themselves. Some of those who pitched in are in their 80's or 90's, but that didn't stop them from celebrating more than 30-years of Illini spirit!

URBANA -- These older Illini fans are hyped up for homecoming. People at Clark-Lindsey are no longer in college, but their love of the orange-and-blue is going strong. WCIA-3's Anthony Antoine has more.

They're almost ready for the homecoming parade, but they won't be spectators. They'll be part of the festivities. It's not a dorm at UI, but one thing is for sure; Illini fans live here.

"The choraliers that always sing at dinner time, all the fight songs, all the school songs. I kind of build it up on that."

Residents here are showing their school spirit. Together, they're building their very own float for the homecoming parade.

"Oh, I haven't seen a parade for along time."

99-year old Virginia Lovingfoss is from Philo and she's looking forward to the event.

"My son and I were on the RSVP float during the 4th of July Parade and it's fun. You ride along and see the people, wave to them."

"Oh, it feels like part of the group and it feels like part of the celebration and they're having all this stuff and I'm part of it. That's fun to be part of it."

And, what's better than doing this with your friends?

"Oh, they're buddies. It's better than working with somebody you don't know. So then, if you make a mistake, they forgive you."

"I think there's been a little bit of youth brought back into their lives. I feel that."

This has been a week full of activities and, weather-permitting, they will be on the float come Friday.
