CHAMPAIGN -- The Illinois women's basketball team started practice this week, and they are excited to build off their success from last season.  In year one under head coach Matt Bollant, Illinois improved by eight wins and made a run all the way the quarterfinals of the WNIT.

Now begins year two, and Bollant says his team is picking up right where they left off.  They lose a couple big-time contributors in Karisma Penn and Adrienne Godbold, but so far the rest of the team is picking up the slack.

"We're just so much better with the little things than we were last year at this time," said Bollant.  "Our ability to handle the ball and pass and shoot is just night-and-day better than last year at this time.  I think it's really going to make us better defensively because we're going to have to guard good action each day."

Illinois plays their only exhibition game November 3 before opening on the road at Bradley November 8.
