ILLINOIS -- Firearms hunting season opens next weekend and state officials want to give hunters some practice before they hit the fields. They're opening up five state police firing ranges to the public Saturday.

Range time and targets will be free of charge. State police say it's a good way for hunters to brush up on their skills if they haven't shot since last year.

The practice ranges are open between 8 am - 4 pm. You must call to set up a time in advance.
