Judges available for face-to-face

DANVILLE -- Two Illinois' appellate justices took time away from their benches to speak to people.
DANVILLE -- Two Illinois' appellate justices took time away from their benches to speak to people. Fourth District justices Lisa Holder-White and Carol Pope met with the public Sunday afternoon.

The formal greeting was held at the Lamon House in Lincoln Park. It was a chance for people to talk to both justices face-to-face for the first time.

Holder-White says the event gives her an opportunity to show people who she is outside of court. Holder-White was the first African-American judge in Macon County in 2001.

Pope was appointed Appellate Justice by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2008.
