CHAMPAIGN -- Police are issuing another urgent warning: Don't leave your car unlocked. Authorities say they've had eleven reports of stolen vehicles in the past month. Nine were on campus.

The cars were taken from the 300-block of East Daniel and the 1700- and 1800-blocks of Valley Road. Owners are taking notice. Police remind you to not leave keys in the car or leave your windows open.

CHAMPAIGN -- Police are calling a recent rash of car break-ins, "highly unusual." 34-have happened in the past ten days all over the city.

Police say the break-ins aren't happening in any particular area or any particular time. The only similarity is all the cars targeted were unlocked.

Police say all the thefts could have been prevented. They hope to prevent future thefts by urging everyone to lock their cars; especially with the holiday season starting. Some items being
targeted are change, purses, laptops and other personal items.

Police say, if you are out and about, shopping or running errands, the best thing you can do is keep things in the trunk; whether it's a jacket or a wallet, anything which could trigger someone to try to get into your car.
