Lawmakers still betting on raising revenue

SPRINGFIELD -- Lawmakers are discussing gambling again.
SPRINGFIELD -- Lawmakers are discussing gambling again. Wednesday a House committee looked at adding five casinos around the state and slot machines at Chicago's airports.

This is the same bill which passed the Senate in the spring but was never called for a House vote. Supporters are still pushing for it saying it could give state and local governments millions of dollars in revenue.

The bill's sponsor says he's working to address concerns about how those dollars would be shared, but those against it have other concerns.

The bill calls for casinos in Danville, Rockford and other areas including the Chicago suburbs. It would allow slots at O'Hare and Midway international airports.

Both the House and Senate have adjourned for the week. Lawmakers should return to Springfield in early November.
