CHAMPAIGN COUNTY – Saturday afternoon’s storms caused a barn to catch fire.

It happened in rural Champaign County just west of St. Joseph. The barn is along Co. Rd. 1900E and 1575N.

Crews got there around 3:00pm. Investigators think a lightning strike ignited the fire. The St. Joe Fire Department and three others helped put it out.

"We got a good knock on it a passerby reported it and we got here quick and got a good knock. So no injuries and part of it is still standing,” said Asst. Chief Brian Buss, St. Joseph Fire Department.

Despite the fact that part of the barn is standing, Buss said it's a total loss.
